The inspiration for the song “She’s Awesome” was conceived from my love and respect for Black Women. I wanted to capture the beauty of Africa by showing the world its beauty through the soul of a Black Woman. That’s why She’s Awesome.
Creating “She’s Awesome” was a unique experience; writing this song was incredibly easy. My creative process usually starts with getting an idea of what I want to write about and then obtaining a track that accompanies the feel and energy of the song. The lyrics for this song came to me naturally because I had the perfect inspiration: the crown jewel of the earth, Black Women.
The melody came together when I got into the character of how I’d like the song to sound. It helps that “She’s Awesome” is also the title track for my upcoming book, She’s Awesome. You can also hear the title track throughout the book.
At its heart, She’s Awesome is, without a doubt, about women’s awesomeness. I want the song to elicit gratitude, love, honor, respect, appreciation, and admiration for women. I hope it underscores how awesome you are.
